McDonalds to Stop Serving Pink Slime in its Meat

There are some days you read a story online and you hope it's April Fool's day. Regrettably, today is not April 1st.

I read this story at MSNBC.com and found it to be truly horrifying. Apparently McDonalds was using something called 'ammonium hydroxide' to make meat scraps 'edible' and incorporate them into those tatsy double cheeseburgers we've all been eating. This chemical is also used to make "fertilizers, household cleaners and some roll-your-own explosives", so of course McDonalds was putting it in meat. Here's a picture of the goo in question:

We have British chef Jamie Oliver to thnk for bringing this to our attention. I, for one, am done eating at McDonalds after hearing about this. If the company puts this in their ground beef just imagine what they do to chicken to get nuggets it in those weird foot shapes.
