This is the movie trailer for RED. It's an adaptation of a graphic novel by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner. I'm a big fan of Mr. Ellis's work and this movie looks fun. You can check his site here for his thoughts on the adaptation.
Last year I told everyone the new Star Trek movie was going to be fun. I'm telling you right now that this movie looks like a lovely way to spend two hours or so. It stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and Mary Louise Parker. Oh, and Helen Mirren doing this:
Watch the trailer and wait anxiously for the movie release.

Observations on St. Elizabeth's Hospital
1) The nurses are top notch. They are funny, caring and help make the patient and their family feel at ease. The nurses answer endless questions, explain what they are doing as they perform their duties and leave patients feeling at ease.
2) The hospital is clean. Someone is always wiping or mopping. From the patient rooms to the elevators, you rarely encounter a mess.
3) The parking deck feels safe. The hospital police department maintains high visibility around the parking areas. I actually prefer parking in the basement because spaces are always available and I don't feel any anxiety doing so.
4) Replacing the parking booth attendant with a dollar bill machine was a bad idea. It never takes my bills on the first try and the lines to exit are long when some has to look for a smooth single without folds, rips or wrinkles. Besides the attendents were friendly.
5) If it were't for St. E's excellent emergency room and trauma care, the homicide rate in Youngstown would skyrocket. Think about how many shootings are reported where the outcome is a wounded victim instead of a fatality.
I've spent a lot of time visiting this hospital lately and the staff their provides the best care anywhere.

Rule # 54
Men, black socks with shorts is never a good idea. It doesn't matter if they are worn by a retired guy who is rocking plaid Bermuda shorts or some headbanger who cut off a pair of black jeans and accessorized with a wallet chain.

Screaming Tiki Con is this Weekend
The Screaming Tiki Con returns to Niles this weekend at the Eastwood Mall Expo Center beginning Friday and running through Sunday. The event is billed as a comic, toy and pop culture convention and when it was last here, in 2008, it was one of my favorite shows.
This is a great event for the whole family to attend and it is priced reasonably: $10.00 single day admission with kids under 12 free or $20.00 for a weekend pass. This is your opportunity to find some good comics to read, that toy your kids (or you) want or score some autographs from the guests.
Come on out and support a local event so it becomes an annual show.
The schedule is:

1PM • Halo 3 and Rock Band Gaming Tournament Registration Begins

Facebook Scam Installs Malware
I know that a lot of you are on Facebook so I wanted to help spread the word about this phishing scam that downloads malware to your PC. From the article on CNN:
The attack attempts to steal your Facebook login credentials, install malware on your computer, and even get your home address.
The attack is spread via a "hilarious video" posted to Facebook walls, reports WebSense -- when clicked, a form appears requesting your Facebook login.
The attack then returns you to Facebook, installs an app called "Media Player HD," and asks you to download the "FLV player" -- doing so installs malware on your machine.
It gets worse: Depending on your location, you may also be presented with a contest to win an iPad ... if you just enter your home address.
To avoid getting caught, simply remove the "hilarious video" if you find it on your Facebook wall.
I know everyone practices safe surfing like not opening emails from people you don't know and never clicking on attachments but Facebook is riddled with apps that hide spyware and viruses.
The funniest thing about this article though is that it ends with a link to a video that explains the threat. Hmmm...a video link exlpaining the maliciousness of a video. They may have wanted to give that one a second thought.
